#ChangeTheNow (#CTN) with Drawdown Toronto at Georgian College

#ChangeTheNow (#CTN) has partnered with Drawdown Toronto to provide meaningful experiential learning and applied project opportunities for students at Georgian College related to UN SDG 13 – Climate Action since summer 2022.

Each semester #CTN engages student participants in programming that helps them to build 21st century employability skills, such as empathy, teamwork, leadership and changemaking in action, while learning foresight and systems thinking to tackle global issues at the regional level to spark innovation that make our communities greener, healthier, safer, stronger and more inclusive! Community and industry partners, such as Drawdown, participate by working with our team to develop a project brief for student teams to work on. They join us at several touch points, as a guest speaker to help frame the challenge and offer their expert knowledge, while engaging with students, offering inspiration, learning about and evaluating their ideas, and in return, are able to build brand recognition for their organization, to foster and develop their own talent pipeline.

Since July 2022, Drawdown has supported Global Summer School with participants from around the world, Field Placements, Applied Projects and Capstones for students in diploma and post-graduate programs and as part of in-person programming for high school exchange students from Denmark. This year at RISE, an annual event at Georgian College that celebrates Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Entrepreneurship, SDG 13 – Climate Action became our signature gallery in our exhibit, where visitors could participate in a food-based game to learn about the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the action we can all take.

Looking ahead to 2023/24 programming, Regen Toronto will be involved of much of the same, in addition to new programming in Pre-Apprenticeship programs and Summer Camps, while we create a region of changemakers and a healthier planet for all!
