The core team guides the work of Regenerating Toronto. We all participate in one or more projects, helping move our vision forward in collaboration with our partners. Each of us brings our passion and involvement in other organizations to RegenTO’s work.

Andrea is a climate advocate, with a hope through action approach. She has spent over a decade on elementary through secondary Parent Councils, leveraging her business skills to support green initiatives and teachers educating and engaging peers and students in climate action. She has served on the TDSB Environmental Sustainability Community Advisory Committee since 2018 and works with For Our Kids Toronto. Andrea nurtures her love of nature through native plant gardening and walks in the woods.

A retired dentist and UofT professor, David has developed models of community-based health promotion and has participated in teaching and learning about Indigenous health and justice for 30 years. He is a member of Science for Peace, Physicians for Global Survival, and the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment. He has served on the boards of the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition and ICA Canada. David’s key interests are Indigenous rights and social justice-based solutions to the climate emergency.
Treasurer/board
After a BA in Biology and Chemistry, Duncan did Accounting and Administration for non-profits in India and Canada and served as President of ICA Associates Inc. A certified Technology of Participation (ToP) facilitator, he has trained people in 7 countries and led part of the Common Earth curriculum since 2021. Duncan also teaches ICA Canada’s Courage to Lead program.

Lorna has been involved in community development and nonprofit management for over 40 years. As Executive Director of the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition, she led a team in providing consulting and facilitation services to community organizations. She is passionate about climate action, education and advocacy within a context of social justice and healthy communities.

Lyn Adamson is a lifelong peace activist, a leader in VOW – Women’s Voices for Peace, and a co-founder of leading social action organizations in Toronto. Lyn has been a core team member of Drawdown Toronto from its founding and was active in Unify Toronto, and brings years of active organizing from leadership in Toronto, as an advisor with Toronto Climate Action Network (TCAN) and the co-chair of Climate Fast.

Mahnoor has always been passionate about the climate while participating in many groups that have developed her skills and interests as an advocate. She hopes to continue her work with Regenerating Toronto to create change day by day for a healthier planet.
Board Member
As Lead Programmer & Project Manager at Ecologos, Melanie has led the Water Docs Film Festival since 2012. She holds a B.A. in Theatre and Film from York University and a High Honours Diploma in Radio & Television Broadcasting from Seneca College. An avid cinéphile, Melanie has been attending film festivals in Toronto since the 1980s.

Paul has been active in supporting action for, in, about and of the natural world in many facets of his academic, professional and volunteer life. Building on his background in geography and planning, he supported environmental education in Ontario’s French-language schools through the Ministry of Education. Paul now leads nature walks in Toronto and is active in Green 11, a ward-based environmental group in Toronto’s University-Rosedale ward.

Dr. Peter Jones is Distinguished Professor at Tec de Monterrey, Mexico and an associate professor at OCAD University. He is a founder and academic director of the Flourishing Enterprise Institute, a partner of Regenerating Toronto. Peter is a lifelong peace activist and Toronto coordinator for World Beyond War, and co-founder of Unify Toronto Dialogues, and of the original Drawdown Toronto. Dr. Jones advises and conducts research in system change organizing, municipal planning and urban ecologies, and democratic dialogue process.

Ronnie’s love of nature is rooted in a rural childhood, and her background in geology and experience in community development lit a passion for water. She has been recognized by Toronto and the House of Commons for her contributions to non-profit work here and Asia. She is on the Board of the Ecologos Environmental Organization / Water Docs. In her professional work as an editor and user experience writer she has a special interest in making information findable and software usable. Her passion for textile arts and gardening has been influenced by many cultures.

Rose Barcarse leads Park People’s Professional Services and Research programs. Her experience includes ecological research and assessment, championing nationwide food rescue initiatives, and facilitating climate justice conversations. As a partnership builder she has liaised with over 300 NGOs to support GTA community initiatives. She has facilitated over 100 workshops and trainings, reaching across Canada. Rose loves hiking, tree plantings and picnics at the park.

Shaun is an MDes graduate from OCAD University’s Strategic Foresight & Innovation program. He is a Social Innovation Fellow at Georgian College, where he conducts trainings and workshops with RegenToronto. As a multidisciplinary designer, he also has formal training and education in industrial design. Shaun is passionate about continually improving our local communities and stakeholders’ experiences using human-centred design principles that account for equity, inclusion, and sustainability.

Julia Barnes is an artist, activist, and award-winning documentary filmmaker. She loves sharks and is passionate about ocean conservation. Her current work includes campaigns to stop deep sea mining and to prevent industrial energy development in the ocean. Julia has been working for over a decade to bring about positive change.
